Tag every link, so you know how people found you.

Build a clean, consistent tracking link for anything you point at empowerment.3sgf.org: an email, a post, a boosted ad, a QR code on a flyer. Consistent tags are what make your analytics reports actually readable.

How it works 1. Build a link below 2. Copy it 3. Paste it wherever you're posting

1 Where are you sending people?

The exact page a click should open. Paste a specific course URL if you're promoting one.

2 Which effort is this part of?

Groups links from one push together. Use evergreen for always-on links with no specific campaign.

3 How are you sharing it?

This is the one to keep tidy. Reports group by channel type, so always pick from this list.

The exact place it lives. For social, that's the network. For a QR code, the material.

4 Which piece is this?

Tells two versions apart: which post, image, or button. Skip it if there's only one.

Optional: paid-search keyword

Mostly for paid-search keywords. Skip it otherwise.

For your team: find your part

Everyone builds links with the tool above. Each role only needs to remember one situation, so tagging becomes a habit rather than a project.

Pick: source blog, channel referral, campaign = the post's topic or the campaign it supports.

Media Intern
Video content

When: a video points people to a course (YouTube description, pinned comment, Reel or Short, end screen).

Pick: source = the platform (youtube, tiktok…), channel social, campaign = the topic, content = the video name.

Where it goes: the video description and pinned comment, or link in bio for Reels and Shorts.

One team rule: agree on a single campaign name before a push goes out, for example until-everyones-home, so everyone's links group together in the report. Pick it from the campaign list in the builder so the spelling always matches.
The shared rules everyone follows
medium
The type of channel. Always pick from the fixed list (email, social, paid-social, referral…). Reports group by it, so "social" and "Social" and "socialmedia" would split one channel into three. The dropdown keeps it consistent.
source
The exact origin. Where the link lives: instagram, youtube, newsletter, blog, weave (a partner), flyer (a QR code). Note: Hootsuite isn't a source, the network it posts to is.
campaign
The effort it belongs to. Ties a push together across channels, so you can see how "until-everyones-home" did over blog, social, video, and email combined.
content
Which version. Optional. Tells apart two links in the same campaign: hero-button vs footer-link, or reel-a vs reel-b.
  • Everything is auto-cleaned: lowercase, spaces become hyphens, apostrophes drop. No need to worry about capitalization.
  • Only tag your own links to empowerment.3sgf.org. Never edit a link someone else made, and don't tag links between pages inside the site.
  • For QR codes and video: build the tagged link first, then make the QR code or paste it into the description.
